Words of Inspiration and Motivation

"We rely on early childhood teachers to be drivers of education reform, and we must change how we understand and value their work"

"If we don't stand up for children...then we don't stand for much."

"I see teachers who have to figure out who they are and understand themselves and uncover their own discomforts and misinformation. I see adults finding their voice as a result of doing this work. Its like they reclaim and heal things that have happened in their childhood that maybe no one had helped them work with when they were younger"
Ms. Tina, I loved all of the quotes you chose, but the one by Marcy Whitebook struck me the most. We as early childhood educators are given much responsibility, but are also the one part of education that gets the least respect. There are people out there that feel you cannot teach younger children and the only time school really counts is when you are older. Clearly we are teaching them much more at the age we get them because that is the time they learn the best. Thank you for your quote.
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes. I do think that some may not value the work of teachers. I have witnessed the work of some very good teachers. I make it a point to let them know they are appreciated. The job is in no way shape fashion or form an easy one. I have to give props where they are due. There are definitely some awesome teachers out there.
