Quintina's Childhood Web
Mom

-My grandmother has by far been the most influential woman in my life. I started living with my grandmother at the age of 13. She taught me how to be a woman, but not just any woman, a praying woman. My grandmother is the one who laid my foundation spiritually. Always taking me to church and getting me involved in the youth department. I actually had my first child care job at my home church in the nursery.
Grandpa
-My grandpa was my rock and an example of the kind of man I would like to marry one day. He was strong yet quiet. I was stubborn and he knew how to handle me. One thing I will always appreciate my grandfather for is that he believed I could do anything I put my mind to. He always had so much confidence that I would always make the right decisions for myself.
Mrs. Bussell
-Mrs. Bussell was the head of the youth department at my home church. She instilled confidence in me in the form of public speaking. As a kid and sometimes now I am quite nervous speaking in front of groups. When I was younger I had a major easter speech that was difficult. Got in front the church and forgot the entire thing. In embarrassment and fear I fled the stage dramatically running to the bathroom and crying hysterically. From that point on Mrs. Bussell worked with me and put me in front of the church whenever she could. I began to recite poems from memorization. No longer really nervous, but more confident. Then the big day came when I conquered Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. Mrs. Bussell and I worked so hard. That day in front of my church I stood away from the podium, walking from side to side, being sassy and confident and delivered one of my best performances. I even almost forgot a line, but I recovered and did not run. I will never forget this.
